12 Years, more than 700 shows, 130 years of collective comedy. If you have yet to catch The Waterbrains live, you may also recognize some cast members from their many appearances on HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central, CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, TNT, TBS, MTV, Disney or even Sirius/XM radio; from their scores of national commercials or their web videos with views in the millions. In addition to writing for the stage and screen, members have also performed at prestigious comedy festivals including Montreal Just for Laughs, The San Francisco Sketch Fest and The Bridgetown Comedy Festival just to name a few. With a history that spans over 700 live shows, the Waterbrains, (formerly of the Empty Stage), perform improv comedy Friday nights at MI's Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica, and selected Saturdays at the Fanatic Salon in West LA.

Conceived by director Stan Wells, the clap-in form of improv comedy has been the Waterbrains' trademark since the group's inception. No Harolds or games. Just our own signature long form , which generally works up into a comedy frenzy by the end of the show. It's a time-tested funnier breed of improvisation. Experience counts.

 Over a Decade in LA!

You may recognize a few faces from film and TV. And if you don't watch TV, we'll lay claim to many roles you've missed. Trust us.  But our alumni does include Kristen Wiig, some Groundlings Sunday company folks, and even a Groundling.  And that's the truth...so far as you know.

There are indeed quite a lot of us compared to most improv groups.  At any given show, you may see four, you may see all 18. Hell, we can't necessarily even count ourselves.  That's math. We're better at comedy.

For deliciously extreme, inappropriate, wild, amazing improv, you don't want to miss the Waterbrains.   Experience counts.
